SMILES SLOC

Omnisys phase lock and biasing system for a 637 GHz submillimeter local oscillator used in the Japanese SMILES instrument was successfully turned on and phase locked at the International Space Station, ISS.

The complete system performs a number of additional functions besides the main phase locking of the 106 GHz gunn oscillator. The SLOC also performs biasing and monitoring of multipliers and harmonic mixer along with coarse voltage tuning and monitoring of the gunn diode.
