Omnisys Instruments has been awarded the ESA contract for a 875 GHz Receiver Front-end for an Airborne Icecloud Imager Demonstrator for the ISMAR instrument (International Sub-Millimetre Airborne Radiometer).


ISMAR is an instrument which is currently under development and will measure radiation in the 200-1000 GHz frequency range. It will act as an airborne demonstrator for a possible future ESA satellite instrument which will monitor ice clouds. Omnisys Instruments will develop and deliver two receiver chains including horn antennas, mixers, LO chain, LO source and IF amplifier. The critical front-end components are based on GaAs Schottky membrane and InP HEMT MMIC technology from Chalmers University of Technology.
The complete ISMAR instrument is developed by the UK Met Office.
